Introducing Mark & Jess, the Founders and Co-Directors of LANDHQ: Partners in life and business, Mark and Jess have combined their efforts for many years.
Before joining forces, Mark and Jess each built strong careers working for major companies – Mark in engineering project and contractor management, Jess in planning and environmental management. Those roles gave them valuable experience but also highlighted the downside of the corporate world – rigid processes, slow decision-making, and clients often feeling like just another number.
Determined to do things differently, they launched their own development company, successfully delivering multiple projects across Hamilton before combining their expertise to create LANDHQ.
Alongside raising three kids and two dogs, they set out to build a consultancy that blends Mark’s project management know-how with Jess’s planning expertise – offering a more personal, transparent, and streamlined approach to land development, where clients feel genuinely supported from start to finish.

Mark Strange
Director | Project Manager
Mark leads LANDHQ’s strategic direction and business growth, drawing on a foundation in mechanical engineering and years of experience delivering high value, complex projects. As Co-Director, he focuses on leadership, business development, and ensuring the team has the tools and systems to deliver outstanding results for clients.
Balancing big-picture vision with practical delivery, Mark oversees project planning, financial management, and consultant coordination while driving innovation and efficiency across the business. Known for his clear communication and relationship-focused approach, he brings together clients, councils, and contractors to turn complex projects into smooth, successful outcomes.
Jess Strange
Director | Planning Manager
Jess brings strong leadership, deep planning expertise, and a genuine commitment to both people and place. With a Bachelor of Environmental Management and Planning from Lincoln University, she’s an associate member of the New Zealand Planning Institute and actively involved in Papa Pounamu, reflecting her dedication to a collaborative and inclusive approach to land development.
Jess has extensive experience in resource consenting, land development, iwi and Māori land projects, environmental management, and project delivery. She combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, solutions-focused mindset – skilled at navigating complex regulations, managing stakeholders, and guiding projects from concept through to completion.
Known for her clear communication, strategic thinking, and ability to bring people together, Jess keeps projects moving while ensuring outcomes are both sustainable and achievable. Her approachable style, attention to detail, and focus on long-term community and environmental benefits make her an invaluable part of the LANDHQ team.
Alistair Bond
Surveying Manager
We’re proud to have Alistair on the LANDHQ team, bringing a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to the world of surveying. With a Bachelor of Surveying from Otago University, a Masters in Environmental Management, and his Licensed Cadastral Surveyor qualification since 2020, Alistair has completed close to 100 land transfers across the Waikato. He’s passionate about the craft of surveying and the lasting impact it has on the communities where we live, work, and play.
Alistair’s background is as impressive as it is diverse. Alongside his surveying career, he represented New Zealand in rowing at the Rio Olympics – a testament to his dedication, discipline, and drive to succeed. That same energy shines through in his work, where he’s known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering great outcomes for clients.
With his technical expertise, reliability and dedication – Alistair brings the perfect balance of professionalism and energy to the LANDHQ team – making every project a success.
Growth has lead LANDHQ to expanding their services to cover all aspects of the development space, including surveying, engineering, design and joint venture partnerships.
